A man was detained Thursday after allegedly bypassing security at NBC’s "Today" show studios in New York while searching for host Al Roker, according to TMZ.
After failing to locate Roker, the individual reportedly lunged at co-host Craig Melvin and shouted a racial slur before security intervened and took him into custody. No injuries were reported during the incident, and the show continued its broadcast shortly after.
NBC Universal has been contacted for comment regarding the security breach. The incident occurred on a day when co-host Savannah Guthrie returned to the program following her mother’s disappearance over 60 days prior.
