A man in Staten Island, New York, has recounted his terrifying experience after being struck by lightning on August 27. Thomas Fahmy described the event as "horrific" after seeing a "bright white flash" before he instantly fell to the ground.
Fahmy had been walking to a dentist appointment when the lightning strike occurred. He told CBS News, BBC News's US partner, that he had "never felt these sensations ever in my life." He was subsequently taken to the hospital with the assistance of a resident who called 911. Fahmy did not sustain serious injuries from the incident.
