David Campbell has been convicted of murdering Brian Low, a former colleague whose death police initially did not attribute to foul play for several days.

Low's partner of 22 years, Pam Curran, testified during the trial that while Campbell and Low initially appeared to get along, a noticeable coldness developed over time. She recalled an instance where Campbell expressed intense animosity towards Low, stating, "I (expletive) loathe that man. I hate him."

Low's brother, Douglas Low, described Brian as the "nicest, kindest person you could ever imagine" and expressed disbelief that anyone would want to harm him. Curran echoed this sentiment, stating, "I don't think he had a bad bone in his body."

However, the trial revealed underlying animosity between the two men. Campbell had harbored suspicions that Low had "planted" items found during a raid on his home, following alleged bird poisonings. This resentment, nurtured over years, ultimately led to the fatal confrontation.
