A shirtless man climbed the Sixth Street Bridge in downtown Los Angeles on Friday morning, leading to the closure of the span and causing traffic delays. The individual was observed pacing on one of the bridge's arches, prompting authorities to shut down traffic from the 101 Freeway to Mateo Street.
Responders arrived at the scene after receiving reports of a person threatening to jump from the bridge. The man was seen interacting with a Los Angeles Fire Department ladder extended toward him, shaking it as he refused to descend. At one point, the man ignited a small fire on the arch.
The incident caused significant traffic disruption as the bridge, a major artery connecting downtown Los Angeles and Boyle Heights, was inaccessible in both directions.
