A 47-year-old man has been charged with murder, eight months after Megan Tangye, 31, was found with unexplained injuries at a waterfront unit in Port Macquarie, Australia. Police arrested the man, identified as Tangye's former partner, on Monday aboard a boat moored in the Hastings River.

Detectives stated that the arrest followed recent receipt of final autopsy findings, which determined the cause of death to be blunt-force trauma consistent with an assault. Tangye was discovered at the Gore Street unit at 11:40 a.m. on December 27, 2025, and died later that day after being transported to a hospital.

The investigation involved extensive inquiries and input from Tangye's family and the community. The man faces charges of murder (domestic violence) and assault occasioning actual bodily harm (domestic violence), and is scheduled to appear in bail court on Tuesday.

Tangye's sister-in-law had previously spoken about the family's determination to see justice served. She described Tangye as kind and caring, always ready to check on others.
