A 46-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter and aggravated burglary following the death of a 75-year-old woman after a suspected burglary.
Jeffrey Dean Rose, of North Harrow, was arrested on Friday, August 21. Police were called to Tollington Park in Finsbury Park on the night of August 11 after reports of a burglary. Rose Smith was taken to the hospital, where she died the following day. An 81-year-old man present at the scene was also taken to the hospital and discharged the next day.
Rose is due to appear at Barkingside Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
In a statement, Smith's family described her as an "outgoing woman" who enjoyed bingo, spending time at cafés with friends, and especially with her family. They characterized their loss as devastating, remembering her as "the life and soul of every party" with a "wonderful personality, a big heart and a way of bringing laughter and happiness wherever she went."
