A 28-year-old man, identified as Lucci Guthrie, has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a knife attack at the Mistress of Mayfair nightclub. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, August 10, resulted in a 37-year-old man sustaining a stab wound to the neck, described as potentially life-changing.
Armed police arrested Guthrie at the Hertfordshire home of reality television personality Yazmin Oukhellou on Monday night as part of a rapid investigation into the assault. Oukhellou, who was reportedly present at the time of the raid, is not considered a suspect and was not arrested. The raid on her flat, located in Hertford, lasted over an hour. Officers from the Met Police, supported by local Hertfordshire police, carried out the operation.
The violent incident unfolded at the exclusive Mayfair venue where Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey was celebrating his birthday with approximately 20 guests, including teammate Lamare Bogarde. The attack occurred near the dancefloor shortly after midnight, disrupting the festivities. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with one source stating a man was seen collapsing, holding his neck. Guests were reportedly in the midst of their meals when the disturbance began.
The Metropolitan Police responded to the scene on St James's Street at 12:22 a.m. along with emergency medical services. A proactive investigation team from the Met's Central West command was established to pursue the suspect. Following the identification of Guthrie, authorities executed the arrest at Oukhellou's residence.
Guthrie is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday. The victim was transported to a hospital for emergency surgery following the assault.
Yazmin Oukhellou, known for her role in the reality show "The Only Way Is Essex" (TOWIE), departed the series in 2023 to focus on her recovery from injuries sustained in a car crash that resulted in the death of her boyfriend, Jake McLean, in 2022. She has since been active as an influencer and beauty salon owner.
