Christopher Cockell, 50, is scheduled to appear at Leeds Magistrates' Court on October 28th, facing charges related to a fatal crash that occurred on July 21, 2024. The collision involved a car and a motorbike on the A61 between Barnsley and Wakefield.
The incident claimed the lives of Shannen Morgan and Shane Roller, along with their two daughters, nine-year-old Rubie and four-year-old Lillie. Also killed in the crash were Christopher and Janine Barton, a married couple from Barnsley who were traveling on the motorcycle.
An inquest into the incident previously heard that a silver Ford Focus, driven by Mr. Roller, 33, collided head-on with a BMW motorcycle operated by Mr. Barton, 56. The crash occurred around 3:50 PM BST between Staincross and Newmillerdam.
Ms. Morgan and Mr. Roller, who resided in Athersley, Barnsley, had another daughter, aged 11, who was not present at the time of the collision. A GoFundMe page established by a family friend in the aftermath of the tragedy raised over £400,000 for her.
