An Illinois man faces charges including aggravated driving under the influence and reckless homicide after a boat collision on the Fox River resulted in the decapitation of a woman. Richard Stevenson, 45, was arrested Saturday following the incident, which prosecutors say occurred when his 31-foot pontoon boat overtook a smaller vessel at high speed.

The victim, identified as 48-year-old Magdalena Joblonska, died instantly. The crash took place around 2:30 p.m. on the Fox River in McHenry. According to prosecutors, Stevenson's boat struck the rear of Joblonska's 20-foot boat, described as a Crownline, driving over her. Her remains were reported missing as of Monday.

Joblonska's husband, who was also on the boat, was transported to a hospital, but his condition is not yet clear. Stevenson's boat washed ashore, where he was found by a witness. He was taken to the hospital, where his blood alcohol content was measured at 0.20, more than two and a half times the legal limit.

Prosecutors stated that Stevenson had consumed multiple shots of Fireball whiskey prior to the crash. Two other individuals who were aboard Stevenson's boat reportedly fled the scene before emergency services arrived but were later interviewed by police.

Stevenson has been charged with two counts of aggravated driving under the influence- causing death and one count of reckless homicide. He has also been hit with charges related to previous drunk driving offenses

Stevenson has been charged with two counts of aggravated driving under the influence causing death and one count of reckless homicide. Court records indicate prior offenses, including three counts of driving under the influence, three counts of reckless driving, and four misdemeanor speeding violations. McHenry County State's Attorney Randi L. Freese vowed to pursue justice for the victim and her family, stating that rivers and lakes should be safe places for families.

The fatal crash took place around 2.30pm, about an hour and 45 minutes after Stevenson's boat was seen zooming back and forth in the water on a neighbor's security camera

Joblonska was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran who resided in Des Plaines. Her family and friends have shared tributes on social media, mourning her loss. Her brother, Michal Macias, posted about memorial flowers and requested prayers for his sister. Another brother, Marcin M Jablonski, also posted a heartfelt message expressing his love and grief.
