Duane "Keffe D" Davis has been charged with murder with the use of a deadly weapon in connection with the 1996 shooting death of Tupac Shakur. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department announced the arrest on Friday, September 29, 2024, nearly 30 years after the rapper was killed. Shakur was fatally shot on the Las Vegas Strip on September 7, 1996, and died six days later. He was 25 years old at the time of his death.

Davis, 60, is alleged to have been in the Cadillac from which the shots were fired that killed Shakur. He has previously spoken publicly about his involvement in the shooting, including in a 2019 documentary and a tell-all memoir. Authorities stated that Davis was arrested in Henderson, Nevada, after a grand jury indictment. He is currently being held at the Clark County Detention Center.

The investigation into Shakur's murder has been ongoing for decades. In 2008, the Las Vegas police declared the case cold, but authorities have continued to pursue leads. The arrest of Davis marks a significant development in one of hip-hop's most enduring mysteries.
