Man Cautioned in Probe of Assaults at Reform UK Conference

West Midlands Police have issued a conditional caution to a man as part of an investigation into assaults that occurred at the Reform UK party conference in Birmingham earlier this month. Footage from the event appeared to show protesters being physically removed from the venue by audience members, with one woman reportedly having her hair pulled and being struck with a walking stick.

Authorities are investigating assaults on five individuals in connection with the incident. In addition to the cautioned man, two other men have voluntarily been interviewed by police as the inquiry continues. The man who received the caution also came forward voluntarily for an interview. The police force has appealed for any alleged victims and individuals with further information to come forward.

Protesters disrupted Reform UK leader Nigel Farage's speech on four occasions during the conference at the NEC on September 4, before they were escorted out by security personnel.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police stated that the investigation into multiple assaults at the Reform UK national conference is ongoing. "One man has been given a conditional caution after being voluntarily interviewed as part of the investigation," the spokesperson added.

Police cautions are typically offered when there is sufficient evidence for a conviction, and the individual admits their involvement in an offense. Conditional cautions are a more serious form of caution, requiring the recipient to agree to certain terms, which could include fines, reparations to victims, or participation in rehabilitation programs. Agreeing to any caution constitutes an admission of guilt.
