Man Arrested Six Years After Double Murder in Manchester

A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder six years after Junior Ajose, 36, and Cheriff Tall, 21, were fatally shot at a party in the Moss Side area of Manchester. The suspect was detained in Turkey and transported back to England on Saturday, where he was taken into custody by officers from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) at Stansted Airport.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Higginson of GMP's major incident team stated that the arrest signifies the force's "unwavering commitment to securing justice" for the victims and their families. He added that over the past six years, officers have conducted multiple warrants, analyzed evidence, examined seized devices, and pursued all opportunities to identify those responsible for the killings.

Ajose and Tall, who did not know each other, were shot in the head in a car park off Caythorne Street shortly before 1 a.m. on June 21, 2020. Both men later died in the hospital. Authorities estimate that between 300 and 400 people were present in the car park on the night of the incident. GMP issued a further appeal for information on the fifth anniversary of their deaths last year, and a £50,000 reward remains available for information leading to the conviction of the killer. Police continue to seek information to establish the full circumstances of the event and identify any outstanding suspects.
