Man Arrested on Bus for Dismembering and Dumping British Pensioner's Body
Police apprehended Marcin Majerkiewicz after spotting him board a bus, leading to the discovery of a gruesome murder.
Police in Greater Manchester, England, arrested Marcin Majerkiewicz, 42, on a bus in April 2024 in connection with the dismemberment and disposal of his housemate, 67-year-old Stuart Everett.
The investigation began on April 4, 2024, when a member of the public discovered a human torso wrapped in cling film at the Kersal Dale nature reserve. CCTV footage showed an individual carrying a large bag into the area and leaving without it, prompting police to identify both the victim and the suspect.
Officers traced Majerkiewicz through bus journey records after identifying him from CCTV. Two plain-clothed officers spotted him in the Winton area of Salford, matching the suspect's description, and observed him boarding a bus. They halted the vehicle and took him into custody.
Body-worn footage of the arrest captured Majerkiewicz expressing disbelief, stating, "Can you double check, please? It's definitely a mistake, 100 per cent." He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of murder.
Investigators found evidence of a struggle and an attempted clean-up at the home Majerkiewicz shared with Everett. The victim, identified as Stuart Everett, was bludgeoned with a hammer in March 2024. Majerkiewicz also plundered Everett's bank accounts, dismembered his body into 27 pieces, and removed parts of his face before attempting to dispose of the remains in various locations across Salford and Manchester. Human remains were found at five different sites, including Linnyshaw Colliery Woods, Blackleach Reservoir, Worsley Woods, and Boggart Hole Clough.
Pathology reports indicated Everett suffered severe blunt-force trauma to the head. Evidence of blood matching Everett's DNA was found on a piece of carpet from Majerkiewicz's bedroom, suggesting the attack may have occurred there.
Majerkiewicz, who had a fascination with horror films and a tattoo of the character Jason from 'Friday the 13th', continued to deny responsibility. He was convicted of murder at Manchester Crown Court in March 2025. The court heard that the murder was premeditated and committed for financial gain, as Majerkiewicz owed significant debts.
Stuart Everett, a retired civil servant, had been subletting rooms in his home to two Polish men, including Majerkiewicz, since 2017. Majerkiewicz had assumed control of Everett's finances and mobile phone, even sending messages to Everett's family to suggest he was still alive. Before his arrest, Majerkiewicz had been searching for rental properties in Spain. He was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 34 years.
