Secret Service agents arrested a Venezuelan man in a stolen car carrying multiple firearms near the White House on Thursday. The individual allegedly told authorities that voices in his head instructed him to travel to Washington D.C. to assassinate Donald Trump.
The suspect, whose identity has not been released, was found with three firearms, including an AR-15-style rifle and two handguns, along with numerous rounds of ammunition. According to Fox News, the man had previously been processed under the Biden administration's catch and release policy at the Texas border in 2024.
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin commented on the arrest, stating, "Thanks to our brave Secret Service officers, this illegal alien with three firearms in his vehicle was arrested near the White House before he could harm anyone." Mullin added, "On top of threatening President Trump, he is an illegal alien from Venezuela who had no business being in our country in the first place."
The notes indicate that Trump has been the target of multiple assassination attempts, including an incident where he was shot at during a rally in Pennsylvania in 2024.
