Man Arrested in Armadale Shooting Investigation

Police Scotland has arrested a 57-year-old man in connection with the death of William Watson, 35, who was pronounced dead at the scene of a suspected shooting in Armadale on Saturday.

Authorities are also investigating potential links between Watson's death and a car fire in nearby Netherhouses on Saturday, as well as a fire at a derelict house on Wotherspoon Crescent.

Det Supt Michelle Findlay of Police Scotland's Major Investigations Team stated that specialist officers are supporting Watson's family as the investigation continues. "We've been carrying out extensive inquiries, including door-to-door in the area, CCTV review and forensic analysis," Findlay said.

Police Scotland has urged anyone with information to contact officers via their website or a dedicated online portal. An increased police presence will remain in the Armadale area.

Supt Jocelyn Thomas assured the local community that while they are concerned, the incident is believed to have been a targeted attack. "I want to reassure everyone, these incidents are rare," Thomas said. "Anyone with concerns can speak to these officers."
