A 49-year-old homeless man, identified as Marc Okon, was arrested Saturday morning in Manhattan's Bryant Park after allegedly throwing a cell phone at a mother and her infant. The incident occurred around 10:00 a.m. near Sixth Avenue and West 41st Street.
According to police, Okon struck the baby girl in the left arm with the cell phone, causing visible redness. He then reportedly retrieved the device and threw it again at the 39-year-old mother, but missed. The victims did not know Okon.
Police took Okon into custody at the scene. He has been charged with assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and reckless endangerment.
