A man identified as Daejon Labrayae Love, 35, and his alleged accomplice, Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, have been arrested in Boise, Idaho, on federal charges of wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. The Department of Justice announced the arrests Friday, stating Love allegedly defrauded more than two dozen women out of approximately $1.3 million by falsely portraying himself as an NFL player and fabricating relationships with professional athletes.

According to the criminal complaint filed in Portland, Oregon, Love, who has used multiple aliases including Jon Love, Daejon Love, Avril Lyto Love, and even Jordan Love, allegedly initiated contact with victims through online dating apps starting in February 2022. He reportedly claimed to be a San Francisco 49ers player and invented friendships with NFL stars such as Tyreek Hill, Antonio Brown, and John Brown to gain their trust. The complaint also details instances where Love allegedly told at least one woman he was related to Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love.

Chan allegedly acted as Love's financial advisor, posing as such in communications and on three-way FaceTime calls. The pair reportedly presented fake investment opportunities, fake bank accounts, and fabricated investment balances to solicit funds. In some cases, victims were allegedly encouraged to take out personal loans with promises of quick repayment. Financial records indicate that Love and Chan received around $1.3 million from 26 identified victims, though the FBI believes the actual number of victims may be higher.

Love allegedly used his fabricated persona to display a lavish lifestyle, showing victims fake bank and investment accounts and balances to legitimize his scheme. After victims invested or loaned money, or if they began questioning the investments too frequently, Love would reportedly block communication and keep the funds. None of the identified victims have reported receiving any returns on their investments.

Authorities apprehended Love and Chan at an airport in Boise as Love was reportedly preparing to meet new victims in Idaho. The FBI had been investigating the alleged scheme which spanned victims across Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and California. Love is pictured wearing 49ers-branded headwear in a photo from his now-deleted Instagram account.
