A man identified as Jeanine John Taele, 38, was arrested on Sunday afternoon at the Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, a suburb of Los Angeles. The arrest occurred around 3:30 p.m. local time as Taele was reportedly seen taking pictures and observing security measures on the course. Donald Trump was scheduled to host a Republican National Committee fundraising dinner at the club on Tuesday.

Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department detained Taele and found a loaded magazine in his pocket. A subsequent search of his vehicle in the parking lot revealed a loaded pistol and additional ammunition. A search of his residence in Downey, California, on Monday uncovered further weapons and ammunition, including a .45 caliber pistol, body armor, and high-capacity magazines. Authorities also reported finding notebooks with "concerning statements" and two radio devices at his home.

Taele was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm and possession of illegal ammunition. While the investigation is ongoing, law enforcement stated that there is "no credible threat to our communities." He is also under investigation in connection with a robbery that occurred in nearby El Segundo.

Trump's visit to California marked a rare trip to the state, intended to draw contrasts with Democrats on issues such as the economy, border security, and crime as Republicans aimed to solidify support for the upcoming November elections. The club is owned by the Trump family.
