A 53-year-old man has been arrested and charged with burglary and felony retail theft after allegedly spending the night inside a Chicago Macy's department store, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
Security footage released by the sheriff’s office reportedly shows Roy Pughsley wandering the store after hours in late June. The video allegedly depicts him taking clothing from racks, trying on multiple outfits, and accessing the store’s kitchen area to prepare a meal. Pughsley is seen leaving the store around 3:25 a.m. with unpaid merchandise.
Pughsley was apprehended when a Macy’s employee observed an individual outside the store who matched the description of the overnight occupant, including the same footwear and backpack. The sheriff’s office announced the charges on Tuesday.
According to records, Pughsley has a history of arrests, with 25 in Chicago since 2017. His arrests this year include one on June 3 for unlawful use of a weapon.
