Man Arrested After Mother Found Decapitated in Remote Community

A 37-year-old man has been arrested after his mother, 70, was found decapitated at a property in Mole River, a remote community in New South Wales' Northern Tablelands. Police responded to reports of a domestic violence incident at the Ironbark Road property around 9:35 p.m. on Saturday.

Officers were informed that the 37-year-old man had entered the property, attempted to steal a vehicle, and assaulted the homeowner, a 74-year-old man. Following the arrest of the 37-year-old, police visited a neighboring property where they discovered the woman's body. A house on the property had also sustained partial fire damage.

This incident was one of three separate cases where women died in New South Wales over a 12-hour period on Saturday.

In eastern Sydney, a 47-year-old man was arrested and subsequently charged with murder (domestic violence) after an elderly woman, in her 90s, was found with significant injuries at a Bondi Beach unit around 5:15 p.m. The woman was treated at the scene but died. The arrested man was known to the victim. He was denied bail and was scheduled to appear in court on Sunday.

Separately, in Wagga Wagga in southwest New South Wales, a 23-year-old woman died from fatal stab wounds. Police found her inside a home around 11:45 a.m. A 31-year-old man, identified as being in a relationship with the victim, was arrested approximately nine hours later at another residence in the city and later charged with murder.
