Armed police responded to a machete attack in Boscombe Chine Gardens, Bournemouth, Dorset, leading to an arrest at the nearby Chine Hotel. The incident occurred around 12:40 p.m. on October 1, 2026.

According to Dorset Police, a man sustained a head injury during an altercation where another individual allegedly used a long bladed weapon. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment, with authorities stating his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The arrested individual was taken into custody on suspicion of causing attempted grievous bodily harm.

Officers cordoned off the area surrounding Boscombe beach as the investigation unfolded. The Chine Hotel, a Victorian-era building that once hosted entertainers like Laurel and Hardy, has been repurposed by the Home Office to accommodate asylum seekers. Following the arrest, the suspect was escorted from the hotel and placed into a police van.
