Man Admits to Stabbing Charges in UK Train Attack

Anthony Williams, 32, has admitted to a string of charges, including wounding with intent, related to a mass stabbing incident on a train in November of the previous year. Williams was arrested in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, following an alleged attack on a train traveling between Doncaster and London's King's Cross.

Williams had initially denied 21 charges, which included 14 counts of attempted murder. Ten of these attempted murder charges were connected to the incident on the LNER service, with four others relating to events on the preceding day.

During a hearing at Cambridge Crown Court, Williams entered guilty pleas to 14 new charges. He admitted to wounding with intent concerning the ten individuals injured on the evening train from Doncaster. Additionally, he pleaded guilty to two other charges of wounding with intent and two of attempting to wound, stemming from earlier incidents.

Williams also changed his plea on seven existing charges. These included using threatening words or behavior at Ritzy Barbers in Peterborough, possessing a bladed article on a footbridge near Henry Pen Walk, and stealing kitchen knives from an Asda store in Stevenage, all occurring on October 31.

Charges admitted as having taken place on November 1 included possessing a bladed article at Pontoon Dock DLR Station in east London, common assault against an individual on a Govia Thames Link train between St Pancras Station and Biggleswade, and possessing a bladed article on the LNER train from Doncaster. He also admitted to assault occasioning actual bodily harm against a police officer on November 2.

Prosecutor Chris Paxton KC stated that the guilty pleas do not conclude the case, with the trial scheduled to commence on October 26. Mr. Justice Calver KC informed Williams that sentencing would be deferred until the trial's conclusion, which is anticipated to last five weeks.
