Man Admits Sexually Assaulting Woman Drugged and Raped by Husband

A 38-year-old man has admitted to sexually assaulting a woman who was drugged and raped by her husband over a 20-year period, it was reported.

Last month, the husband, who is in his 60s, pleaded guilty to 60 charges including rape, assault by penetration, and sexual assault. He admitted to drugging his wife between November 2004 and October 2025 to enable her to engage in sexual activity without her knowledge. The offenses occurred at the couple's home in Stockport, Greater Manchester, until the husband's arrest in October 2025.

Sean Peers, 38, of Stockport, pleaded guilty to assault by penetration on September 15, 2024. He was informed by Judge Maurice Greene that he will be subject to notification requirements under the Sexual Offences Act. Peers was granted bail and is scheduled for sentencing at a later date.

More than a dozen other men are due to stand trial for their alleged roles in the offenses. These defendants range in age from 29 to 74 and include a paramedic, a former nightclub DJ, and an ex-football club chief executive.

Among those who have admitted their roles is Keith Fotheringham, 59, a technician at the University of Dundee. In February 2026, he pleaded guilty to four charges between 2023 and 2025, including conspiracy to rape, conspiracy to commit assault by penetration, conspiracy to administer a substance with intent, and assault by penetration. Fotheringham is currently on remand.

Eleven men are scheduled to go to trial later this month, with the proceedings expected to last at least two months. These defendants deny various charges, including rape, conspiracy to rape, and assault by penetration.

Some of the defendants who have pleaded not guilty include ambulance paramedic Jonathan Kirk, 43, Graham Brougham, 74, former DJ Robert Stewart, 70, Mohammed Sabir, 29, Alan Keelan, 42, Jordan Wallace, 31, Philip Wild, 58, Karl Lindsay, 56, Richard Townsend, 38, Daniel Rayner, 42, and David Graves, 59.

Wallace, Kirk, Brougham, and Keelan have been granted bail, while the remaining defendants are in custody.
