A 47-year-old man has admitted to filming dozens of sex attacks on his partner, allegedly while she was drugged and incapacitated. The man pleaded guilty to 32 charges, including rape, assault by penetration, and sexual assault, at Northampton Crown Court on Tuesday. The offences are reported to have occurred between 2014 and 2025.
Prosecutors stated that all of the attacks took place while the victim was drugged and stupefied. The defense, however, suggested that the victim may have been asleep on some occasions. The man used his mobile phone to record himself and other unnamed individuals assaulting his partner, who was reportedly tied up in some instances. In one recorded incident, the victim was described as snoring.
He pleaded guilty to eight counts of rape, 10 counts of assault by penetration, and four counts of sexual assault. Additionally, he admitted to four counts of rape, four counts of assault by penetration, and two counts of sexual assault committed with unknown individuals. The man, who cannot be named to protect the victim's identity, also admitted to using various objects during the assaults and writing on the victim's body.
Judge David Herbert KC warned the defendant that he faces a substantial prison sentence, potentially including a life term, when he is sentenced on September 18. The court heard that the man has expressed a desire not to contest the matters further and wishes for the complainant not to be involved in subsequent proceedings.
This case emerges amid broader investigations into drug-facilitated sexual abuse. The National Crime Agency (NCA) has identified eight cases in the UK linked to a global online abuse forum involving 270 individuals. International operations have led to arrests and victim protection measures. Investigators believe numerous other forums may exist where men facilitate the sexual exploitation of drugged partners, often over extended periods, with victims unaware of the abuse until contacted by authorities. Nigel Leary, deputy director of the NCA, described the scale of the issue as deeply concerning.
