Man Admits Drugging, Raping Wife for Two Decades

A man has provided a witness statement about alleged events involving his wife, whom he admitted to drugging and raping without her knowledge for over 20 years. The husband, who cannot be identified to protect his wife's anonymity, also faces accusations of involving 13 other individuals in abusing her from 2018 until November 2025.

The man, in his 60s and from the Stockport area of Greater Manchester, initially denied the charges but pleaded guilty last month to 60 offenses, including rape and administering a substance with intent. A jury was sworn in at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court in early September, though the case has since faced delays due to legal and practical reasons.

One co-defendant, 59-year-old Keith Fotheringham from Dundee, Scotland, has also pleaded guilty to several offenses. The jury, composed of nine women and three men with two female reserve jurors, was informed by Judge Maurice Greene that the primary defendant had given a detailed statement concerning the events.
