Daejon Labrayae Love, 35, and Taylor Jamie Chan, 18, have been charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud, according to the Justice Department. Federal authorities allege Love used a fabricated persona of being a San Francisco 49ers player, a lavish lifestyle, and fictitious investment accounts to defraud 26 women out of approximately $1.3 million.

The scheme, which allegedly ran from February 2022 through March 2026, targeted women in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and California. According to an FBI affidavit, Love allegedly portrayed himself to women as an NFL player for the 49ers or a wealthy Swiss real estate developer.

Investigators said Love posted misleading photographs, videos, and statements online to support his claims. A video obtained by OutKick in late 2024 appears to show Love signing what he represented as an NFL contract, stating, "Niners, you already know, Niner gang." Representatives for the NFL and 49ers told investigators that Love had never been employed by either organization, according to the affidavit.

Chan allegedly posed as Love's financial advisor, participating in three-way FaceTime calls with women and displaying purported investment gains. The FBI affidavit details how Love allegedly used football-related imagery, including custom helmets and prop money, to bolster his false 49ers affiliation. Investigators found purchases from companies that sell custom football helmets and fake cash for movies.

Love also allegedly posted screen-recorded videos, with original user information removed, presenting them as his own to convince women he played for the 49ers. According to the affidavit, agents identified three videos from Love's iCloud accounts that had been shared roughly 185 times, including with alleged victims. Two of these videos showed Love wearing a 49ers jacket.

In one video, Love allegedly claimed the San Francisco team "offered me the most money," stated he had received a signing bonus, and said he attended team meetings and workouts. He also allegedly claimed friendships with NFL players Tyreek Hill, Antonio Brown, and John Brown, using these purported relationships to explain how he received tryout invitations.

Investigators said Love's financial records showed no identifiable legitimate income. The affidavit alleges Love used phone applications to create fake bank and investment account balances, which he then showed to women as proof of his wealth and investment success. In January 2024, Love reportedly asked Chan to make a screenshot showing a $3.4 million account balance. The following month, investigators say Love asked Chan to create a stock account appearing to be worth $11 million.

Love and Chan were arrested together at Boise Airport on August 24, 2026. Prosecutors in a separate Idaho filing asked a judge to detain Love pending his transfer to Oregon, alleging he was wearing 49ers apparel when arrested and that agents later found $3,000 in cash and 49ers gear, including a helmet, in an Airbnb associated with him. Prosecutors also stated Love was in Boise while actively trying to defraud three additional Idaho victims.
