Robert Galtman, 48, appeared in court Wednesday wearing a suicide prevention gown after a judge ordered him held without bail in connection with two homicides in Pomona. Galtman is accused of fatally shooting his former girlfriend, 24-year-old Veronica Lopez, and her 48-year-old neighbor, Richard Brady.

Following the shootings, Galtman allegedly led police on a multi-agency freeway chase that concluded with his arrest. Prosecutors have charged him with two counts of murder and one count of evading police, with a special circumstance allegation of multiple murders.

His arraignment has been postponed until July 21. Galtman remains in custody as the case proceeds.

Family members stated that Lopez and Galtman had been in a two-year relationship marked by domestic violence. Lopez was remembered by her family as a devoted San Francisco 49ers fan and a determined young woman.

Loved ones of Lopez learned of her death in real-time while watching live television coverage of the chase. Her sister, Klarissa Lopez, told ABC News that the family recognized the car and a dog rescued during the pursuit and subsequently contacted Pomona police, who confirmed Veronica's identity through fingerprints.
