A 25-year-old man has died at a campsite near the Royal Welsh Show, prompting police to arrest three men on suspicion of drug-related offenses. Dewi Aeron Evans was pronounced dead at the scene after paramedics were called to Penmaenau Farm Camping, a large site used by visitors to the annual agricultural event.
Dyfed-Powys Police responded to a report of a medical emergency around 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 18. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Evans was declared deceased at the location. His next of kin have been notified and are receiving support from trained officers.
The three arrested men remain in custody. Police stated that their inquiries are ongoing, and a presence remains at the campsite. Temporary chief superintendent Steve Davies described the incident as tragic and emphasized that it is currently being treated as unexplained. He reassured the public that there is no evidence of an ongoing risk.
Evans was remembered by his family as a "beloved and dear son, brother and grandson" and his death was called a "huge loss." The family has requested privacy during this difficult time.
The Royal Welsh Show, which attracts approximately 200,000 visitors annually, issued a statement expressing deep sadness over the news and extending condolences to Evans' family and friends. Organizers affirmed that the safety and well-being of attendees remain their priority and that they are cooperating with the police investigation. The campsite itself remains open, with site bosses assuring guests that the incident was isolated.
