Malik Nabers Shakes Off Injury Concerns with Dominant Performance

New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers demonstrated a significant return to form on Sunday, delivering a performance that eased concerns about his surgically repaired knee. Nabers recorded six catches for 112 yards and a touchdown in the Giants' 36-24 victory over the Arizona Cardinals at MetLife Stadium. This output marks a substantial increase from his yardage in the first three games of the season.

Despite admitting on Thursday to lingering hesitation and thoughts about his knee, Nabers' play on the field suggested a new level of confidence. "I knew it was coming," Nabers said after the game, which improved the Giants' record to 3-1 and placed them atop the NFC East. "Everybody was asking me [how I felt]. I felt good throughout the whole week. I just didn’t want to jinx myself. I was trying to be humble and wait for the game to come to me."

Nabers acknowledged that he still believes he can achieve more and left some plays on the field, but Sunday's game represented a crucial step forward in his recovery and performance.

Late in the first half, Nabers scored his first touchdown in over a year, a 25-yard reception from quarterback Jameis Winston. The score, his first since September 14, 2025, came on a seam route where he beat linebacker Mack Wilson Sr., with cornerback Garrett Williams arriving too late to make a defensive play. "I got the look in practice, I got the look watching film," Nabers commented. "When he called it, I was like, ‘Jameis, I’m about to be open.’ He was like, ‘I got you.’"

Regarding the touchdown, Nabers added, "Just to get back in the end zone, it felt good. I didn’t know what celebration [to do]. So I just walked off."

An early scare occurred on the Giants' first drive when Nabers landed on his right shoulder after a 39-yard catch. He briefly left the game but returned shortly after. Nabers downplayed the incident, stating, "Just fell on my shoulder, that’s pretty much it."

The victory was a significant moment for the Giants, marking their first 3-0 home start since 2008. The team also honored its 1986 Super Bowl-winning team at halftime. "I felt good coming out there," Nabers concluded. "I know I’m capable of more. It’s just a little bit of what I can do. I can do more."
