The New York Giants received a significant boost as star wide receiver Malik Nabers is not expected to be placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list when training camp opens. This development is a major advantage for the team's offense.

While Nabers is anticipated to be ready for camp, three other players will begin training camp on the PUP list. Tight end Thomas Fidone, defensive tackle Roy Robertson-Harris, and defensive tackle Sam Roberts are expected to start training camp on PUP. Fidone is recovering from a foot injury that sidelined him at the end of his rookie season and required a June procedure. Robertson-Harris, a projected starter, suffered a torn Achilles during organized team activities on May 21. The Giants hope he can return before the end of the regular season, which is why he is on the PUP list instead of injured reserve, a designation that would end his season. Roberts, a free agent signee, had his previous season limited to five games due to a knee injury and underwent offseason surgery, causing him to miss spring activities.

Rookies reported for physicals on Thursday, and veterans are scheduled to join them next week before the team departs for its training camp location. Nabers is currently recovering from two surgeries to repair a torn ACL and meniscus in his right knee, which he sustained on September 28. He is expected to be eased into training camp activities. Once Nabers participates in practice, he will no longer be eligible for the PUP list if he experiences a setback.

Players placed on the PUP list must miss the first four games of the regular season if they remain on the list when roster cuts occur on August 28.
