Male Entertainer Will Parfitt Discusses Financial Journey and Entrepreneurial Advice
Social media personality and founder of Magic Men shares insights on wealth creation, business, and family.
Will Parfitt, a prominent male entertainment personality with over 17 million social media followers, has discussed his financial journey and offered advice for entrepreneurs. Parfitt, the 36-year-old founder of the multi-million pound male entertainment show Magic Men, which tours internationally, shared his experiences in a recent interview.
Parfitt began his career while backpacking in Australia, eventually gaining a following online before launching Magic Men. The show now performs in arenas across North America, Asia, and Europe. Parfitt resides in Melbourne, Australia, where he employs 130 people, and also maintains a home in the UK.
Raised in Croydon, England, Parfitt attributes his strong work ethic to his parents, Lesley and Trevor, who worked as a carpenter and at the Treasury, respectively. He stated that they instilled in him the importance of hard work and striving for goals. While his parents favored traditional savings accounts, Parfitt focuses on property investment as his primary savings strategy.
During his early twenties, after a period of working various jobs and saving approximately £1,000, Parfitt traveled to Australia. He encountered financial struggles during this time, recalling instances of having very little money to live on.
Since the success of Magic Men, Parfitt believes he earns substantial amounts, referring to it as "silly money." He recently invested half the funds from a six-week European tour into a £1 million, five-bedroom penthouse in Melbourne. He views property as a key investment for rental income and personal use, appreciating the views and amenities of his new home.
Parfitt identified the last one to two years as his most financially successful, marked by extensive touring across North America, Canada, Europe, and Scandinavia. He noted that the combination of ticket sales and merchandise revenue has been highly profitable, citing a single show in Oslo that generated a £250,000 profit. He acknowledged the inherent risks in booking large venues, recalling his past financial anxieties from his backpacking days.
On personal spending, Parfitt mentioned a £100,000 trip to Dubai for his parents, describing it as a dream holiday and a way to spend quality time with them given his distance from their home in Norfolk. He also owns an Audemars Piguet watch, purchased for £60,000 after a period of touring as a personal reward.
Reflecting on his business ventures, Parfitt identified a significant money mistake in his early days with Magic Men, involving a promoter who allegedly manipulated financial records, resulting in a loss of several hundred thousand pounds. He emphasized the importance of trusting business partners, especially when operating internationally.
Parfitt considers enabling his mother to retire his best financial decision. He arranged a plan to provide her with an income equivalent to her pension so she could retire simultaneously with his father, allowing them to enjoy retirement together.
While not currently married or with children, Parfitt aims to build generational wealth through his investments. He has established a property portfolio valued at £10 million, which includes his Melbourne penthouse, six apartments in Australia, and a bungalow in East Anglia. Most of these properties are rented out, generating income.
Parfitt stated he does not have a traditional pension but relies on his property and investments for long-term security. His goal is to reach a point by age 40 where he has the option to stop working.
Should he be Chancellor, Parfitt's priority would be supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs by reducing their tax burden and fostering an environment conducive to risk-taking and growth. He believes small businesses are crucial to the economy and that government should create conditions for entrepreneurial success.
His number one financial priority is ensuring he has sufficient resources for his future family and for the care of his parents, emphasizing the importance of looking after loved ones.
