Maine Senate hopeful Graham Platner was seen publicly for the first time on Tuesday since his ex-girlfriend publicly accused him of rape. Platner, 41, has vehemently denied the accusations, which were made public on Monday by Jenny Racicot.

Racicot alleges that Platner broke into her home and forced her to have sex while she was heavily intoxicated. Platner, an oyster farmer, was photographed outside his home accompanied by a security guard and his wife, Amy Gertner, who is employed by his campaign.

Most prominent Democratic figures have withdrawn their support for Platner and have urged him to exit the race. However, sources familiar with the situation have indicated that Platner and his aides are attempting to use his position to influence the selection of a successor who aligns with his progressive political views.
