Maine Senate Candidate Removed from Own Facebook Group Over Rude Remarks

Troy Jackson, the Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in Maine, was removed from his own Facebook group, "Mainers for Troy Jackson," after making rude comments to supporters. The incident occurred after group members expressed frustration over cancelled campaign events.

Jackson responded to the complaints with a sarcastic "so sad," and added, "We have one in Belfast this weekend." This remark, made from Jackson's personal account, was met with backlash from supporters who deemed his comments "patronizing" and "insulting." The Maine Wire confirmed that the remarks came from Jackson's personal account, which is not managed by campaign staff.

This is not the first time Jackson has faced criticism for his online conduct. The 58-year-old former logger has reportedly gone rogue on Facebook multiple times in recent days. On September 17, Jackson engaged in a public spat with former Maine State Senate Majority Leader Garrett Mason, a Republican. Mason criticized Jackson's judgment for a comment about Graham Platner, the accused rapist Jackson replaced on the ballot. Jackson responded by calling Donald Trump a "child rapist."

In another incident on September 20, Jackson responded with "bulls–t" to a voter who accused him of mortgage fraud, according to the Bangor Daily News.

Jackson, who is running against five-term Republican Sen. Susan Collins, had previously been described as a "working-class hero" by his campaign. He replaced Graham Platner on the ballot after allegations of sexual assault surfaced against Platner.

When questioned about past outbursts, Jackson has stated, "I wear my heart on my sleeve." He did not respond to a request for comment regarding the Facebook group incident.
