Maine Senate candidate Graham Platner is facing a second allegation of nonconsensual sexual contact. Lyndsey Fifield, an ex-girlfriend, told The Washington Post that Platner repeatedly removed his condom during sex without her permission, describing the acts as "sneaky."
Fifield stated that Platner removed condoms at least six times during intercourse without consent. She recounted confronting him during and after the acts, given that she was not on birth control. According to Fifield, Platner would respond playfully, saying, "Oh sneaky me."
A friend, Emily Zanotti, corroborated Fifield's account, recalling that Fifield discovered Platner had been removing condoms mid-intercourse and was "extremely angry about the situation."
Platner's campaign has issued a statement calling Fifield's allegations "categorically false and politically motivated."
This allegation follows another made on Monday by Jenny Racicot, another former girlfriend, who accused Platner of drunkenly entering her home without permission and raping her approximately five years ago. Following Racicot's claim, support for Platner from within the Democratic party has significantly diminished. Platner, a former oyster farmer, has paused his campaign activities as he considers his future in the race against incumbent Republican Sen. Susan Collins.
