A magnitude 5.0 earthquake was detected northwest of Miami, Texas, the United States Geological Survey reported. The earthquake's epicenter was located about 23 miles south-southeast of Spearman, Texas, at a shallow depth of approximately 3.5 miles.
At this time, there have been no reports of damage. While no aftershocks have been reported, the USGS indicated that they remain a possibility following the initial seismic event.
