A 3.7-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Orange County, California, on Monday afternoon, shaking parts of Southern California and registering as far south as San Diego.
The seismic event occurred around 1:20 p.m. Pacific time, with its epicenter located approximately 18 miles southwest of Dana Point at a depth of about 5 miles. Residents reported experiencing light shaking across a broad area, including communities such as Laguna Niguel, San Clemente, San Diego, El Cajon, and Lynwood.
A smaller aftershock, measuring 2.8 in magnitude, followed the initial tremor.
