Former allies of Donald Trump, including podcaster Tucker Carlson, former Georgia Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, and outgoing Kentucky Republican Congressman Thomas Massie, have reportedly met to discuss the formation of a new political party. Joe Kent, former Director of the United States National Counterterrorism Center, also attended the gathering.
The group expressed frustration over Trump's perceived unfulfilled campaign promises, particularly concerning foreign policy. Greene stated, "We said no more foreign wars, and we meant it and supported Donald Trump because he made that promise. But he’s betrayed us all." She added, "Our commitment is America First for all Americans, right, left, and center. The movement has begun."
The meeting took place at Carlson's cabin in Maine. Greene shared a photograph of the gathering, which also included their spouses, Brian Glenn and Carolyn Grace Moffa, as well as Heather Kaiser Kent. The image, featuring vintage shotguns and taxidermy decor, garnered mixed reactions online.
While some, like Alex Jones, expressed support for the group, others criticized the endeavor. Right-wing journalist Laura Loomer labeled the attendees as "traitors to America and an anti-Trump operative amplified by foreign adversaries." Meghan McCain questioned the group's gathering, and independent journalist Walter Kurt raised doubts about Greene's leadership, referencing her resignation from Congress to marry.
Greene resigned from her congressional seat earlier this year amidst escalating public disagreements with Trump. Her close association with Massie was noted, particularly their joint efforts to push for the release of files related to Jeffrey Epstein. This action reportedly led to Trump referring to Greene as a "traitor."
Massie faced a primary challenge in May from Ed Gallrein, a candidate endorsed by Trump, after Massie consistently advocated for the release of Epstein case files and opposed Trump's tax legislation. Kent, who resigned from the Trump administration over the war in Iran, appeared on Carlson's show shortly thereafter.
Greene recently married Brian Glenn in Las Vegas.
