MAFS Star Tim Calwell Engaged to Girlfriend Barbara Rodrigues

Married At First Sight star Tim Calwell has announced his engagement to his girlfriend Barbara Rodrigues after two years of dating.

The former reality TV groom shared the news on Saturday, revealing he proposed during a getaway to New Zealand. Calwell, 34, got down on one knee in front of a mountain backdrop.

Rodrigues confirmed the engagement on Instagram, sharing photos from the proposal. "Engaged to the love of my life!!! ❤️" she captioned the post. Calwell responded with a kiss and red heart emoji.

The couple met in February 2024, shortly after Calwell's marriage to his on-screen partner Sara Mesa concluded. Their relationship began to be publicly documented in April 2024, when Rodrigues shared photos of them on her private Instagram account. She posted a birthday tribute to Calwell, expressing her happiness.

Calwell and Mesa had a turbulent journey on the dating show, characterized by frequent arguments and communication issues. Calwell previously stated that their marriage became "almost toxic" and described the experience as "definitely wasn't comfortable for me."

He also addressed claims of being involved with someone else during filming, which he denied. "No I wasn't seeing anyone through the experiment. I was literally locked in, dialled in, trying to make our relationship work," Calwell told Daily Mail. He suggested that any such accusations might be an attempt to distract from other issues.

Calwell described his frustration with his marriage to Mesa, citing instances of being "spoken over and talked down to" and feeling that his opinions were invalidated. Despite their efforts, Calwell and Mesa ultimately separated after the show concluded.
