Businessman Aidan Murphy has been granted an 18-month restraining order against television personality Lauren Dunn, following a defamation lawsuit over social media posts. Dunn, known for her appearance on Married At First Sight (MAFS), was ordered to pay $13,300 in costs to Murphy. The legal action stemmed from posts made by Dunn in July 2025, which Murphy alleged falsely suggested he was a supporter of domestic violence.
Murphy stated that the financial penalty does not cover his overall legal expenses or the impact on his family, emphasizing that his goal was to stop the conduct and protect his family from untrue allegations. He reported that his children were subjected to the stress of seeing their father described in a manner unrelated to him.
According to court documents, Murphy filed the defamation lawsuit in August 2025, claiming Dunn made malicious and false comments online. He stated that he and Dunn had met only once, briefly, several years prior. Murphy alleged that Dunn's posts directly implied he supported domestic violence against women and linked this accusation to his past professional association with former AFL player Ryan Crowley. Crowley is currently facing accusations of domestic violence in a separate court case.
Dunn had reportedly claimed her posts were a reaction to remarks Murphy allegedly made about her concerning Crowley. Murphy's lawyer, Roger Blow, requested an injunction to prevent Dunn from making similar posts and argued that Dunn was liable for defamatory remarks made by her followers.
The court orders were made in Dunn's absence. The Daily Mail understands that Dunn intends to appeal the costs order.
Murphy also detailed a separate legal incident in 2025 where he was misidentified by police and arrested on false charges of cocaine possession and breaching a family violence restraining order. These charges were dismissed in February 2026, and Murphy stated he received $6,000 in compensation for the errors. He described this as another instance where his family dealt with stress and embarrassment due to matters unrelated to him.
