Married At First Sight star Scott McCristal has claimed that some of his castmates used cocaine while filming the Channel Nine show. McCristal, a 33-year-old Gold Coast influencer, made the allegations during an interview on the Marty And Michael podcast.
When asked by host Marty Arty if any participants were using drugs during the show's infamously chaotic dinner parties, McCristal responded, "There was a couple, I heard on the grapevine, yeah, before they went in to the dinner parties." He also noted that some cast members would consume alcohol before attending the events.
McCristal, who stated he was the only sober cast member on the show, attributed his ability to navigate tense situations to his sobriety. "My sobriety is probably why I handled myself a lot better. Because I didn't consume alcohol and just carry on like an idiot," he said.
Previous reports indicated that for the first time in the show's history, the cast of MAFS 2026 underwent weekly drug tests. Participants who tested positive were reportedly removed from the competition. This measure was reportedly implemented after an incident where several cast members broke curfew during a "rogue weekend." An insider told Daily Mail at the time that production was "p**sed off" due to the cast's behavior, which allegedly included disappearances, fights, and relationship turmoil.
The 2025 cast also faced stricter rules, including a curfew, after some participants were accused of being "disrespectful" and "selfish" for vanishing mid-shoot. Production had issued a sternly worded email expressing disappointment in the cast's disregard for guidelines, threatening to deactivate hotel key cards after curfew for those who did not inform their associate producer. Contestants reportedly criticized these restrictions as "complete b*****t" and "not fair."
