Bec Zacharia, a figure from Married At First Sight, has undergone the 'Barbie waist' surgery in Bali after a period of indecision and multiple postponements. Zacharia, 35, shared her experience on Instagram, revealing that she had not had the procedure done previously as some of her followers might have believed.

"I've been lying to you. I haven't had surgery yet. I've been in Bali, it's been almost three weeks," Zacharia stated in a video, before documenting her journey to the hospital. She explained that despite delays beyond her control, the day of the surgery had arrived. Zacharia had promised transparency throughout the process, intending to share each step with her audience.

Zacharia expressed a hope to address critics who had labeled her trip and the surgery as a public relations stunt. She arrived at a clinic, changed into a hospital gown, and received IV fluids before being taken to the operating room. Following the procedure, she shared an update from her recovery bed, wearing a medical corset.

"I'm out of surgery. It all went really well. This is what I look like. I'm not hiding anything from you guys," she said, noting that her pain level was around a three out of ten and that she felt comfortable. She added, "The hospital was incredible and now it's just about making sure that I take you guys along on the journey of my results as they go."

Zacharia indicated she would be wearing a corset for the next 12 weeks as part of her recovery. The surgery, which reshapes the lower floating ribs to create a smaller waist appearance, is not available in Australia. The procedure has gained popularity among influencers traveling to Bali, but it has also drawn criticism from medical professionals and social media users concerned about the promotion of unrealistic beauty standards.

This update follows a period where Zacharia had requested privacy from her followers, despite having documented much of her decision-making process online. Previously, she had announced her intention to proceed with the surgery after initially canceling it amid online backlash. Days before the procedure, she had reportedly backed out of the operation at the last minute after arriving at the Bali clinic.

The sponsored trip to Bali, which included other reality stars and content creators, aimed to promote the 'Barbie waist' surgery. Another MAFS participant on the trip, Awhina Rutene, experienced delays with her own surgery due to complications at the newly opened Bali hospital and had to return home. Rutene stated her intention to rebook the surgery for later in the year.
