Madonna Announces New Merchandise Tied to 'Confessions II' Album
The pop icon shared behind-the-scenes photos from a merchandise shoot ahead of her performance at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Madonna has unveiled new merchandise linked to her latest album, "Confessions II," through a series of behind-the-scenes photographs shared on social media. The 68-year-old singer posted images from a photoshoot featuring items from her new collection, including bedazzled hoodies and T-shirts.
In one image, Madonna is seen posing in a sheer bra and fishnet tights, a look she captioned "Dress You Up in my merch…."
The post quickly garnered thousands of likes and comments from notable figures, including Kylie Minogue and Gwendoline Christie. Christie responded with "PURCHASED!"
"Confessions II," released in July, has been lauded as a significant comeback for the artist, with some critics calling it her best work since her 2005 album "Confessions on a Dance Floor," to which it serves as a sequel. The album reached the top of the Billboard 200 chart.
Madonna's work on "Confessions II" has earned her 11 nominations at this year's MTV Video Music Awards, the highest tally for any artist this year. This also marks the most VMA nominations Madonna has received in a single year throughout her career. She has previously won 19 VMAs.
The 2026 MTV Video Music Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sunday, September 27, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Madonna is slated to open the show with a live performance, her first at the VMAs since her controversial 2003 appearance.
Her 2003 performance, which included same-sex kisses with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera, alongside Missy Elliott, was not advertised in advance and was intended as a surprise. Reports indicate that MTV executives had given Madonna creative control over the performance, and she had initially intended for Jennifer Lopez to be involved before a scheduling conflict led to Aguilera's last-minute inclusion. The planned kisses were reportedly only revealed to the VMAs director during rehearsals, prompting a scramble to manage the unannounced moment.
Madonna has a history of memorable VMA performances, starting with her 1984 rendition of "Like a Virgin" and including subsequent performances of hits such as "Express Yourself," "Vogue," and "Bye Bye Baby."
