A violent street brawl involving a machete-wielding gang on bikes and a driver and his passenger was captured on video in Hulme, Manchester. The incident occurred in broad daylight at a set of traffic lights.
The footage shows three masked individuals on bikes approaching a silver Vauxhall. They then proceed to stab machetes through both the passenger and driver's side windows. Initially, the occupants of the car appeared helpless as the attackers slashed at them.
However, the situation escalated when the driver and passenger emerged from the vehicle, brandishing their own machete in a counterattack. A bystander recorded the confrontation from their car, expressing shock as the violence unfolded.
During the brawl, the driver, also wearing a balaclava, dismounted one of the attackers but appeared to sustain a blow. His passenger then joined the fray with a machete. The driver returned to the car, retrieved a knife, and re-entered the fight to support his passenger.
At one point, four individuals were engaged in a machete fight in the middle of the road. The car's occupants were forced to retreat behind their vehicle as the attackers swung their weapons. One attacker smashed the car's rear window with the butt of a machete before attempting to strike the other occupant.
The attackers eventually fled the scene, leaving behind a damaged car and injured individuals. The bystander can be heard commenting on the level of violence and the presence of knives.
Manchester recorded 3,842 knife crimes in the previous year, making it the second highest city for stabbings in the UK, according to Reolink data. London led with 14,577 incidents, followed by Birmingham with 3,215.
