Macaulay Culkin became emotional as he joined Annie Murphy and Dan Levy on stage at the 2026 Emmy Awards to honor the late Catherine O'Hara. Culkin, who played O'Hara's son in the "Home Alone" film franchise, became visibly moved as he spoke about the beloved actress.
"Like a good mother, she always showed up when I asked her to because that was Catherine," Culkin said, his voice thick with emotion. "That's what she did; she showed up. And this is the best that we can do for her tonight, showing up for her."
He added a poignant joke referencing the "Home Alone" movies, stating, "She may have forgotten me…twice, but we will always remember her."
Murphy and Levy, who portrayed O'Hara's children on the critically acclaimed series "Schitt's Creek," also shared heartfelt sentiments about their on-screen mother. Murphy described O'Hara as someone who "spread light" and "brought us joy."
Levy recalled O'Hara's generosity and wisdom, advising the audience, "Say yes to her dinner invites and her stories and her wisdom and her generosity. These are the things you will hang onto the tightest."
Earlier in the evening, Levy wore a black rose on his lapel in honor of O'Hara, telling E! News it was a tribute to the late actress.
O'Hara died on January 30 at the age of 71 from a pulmonary embolism. Since her passing, she has been honored at various awards ceremonies.
At the SAG Actor Awards earlier this year, O'Hara received a posthumous award for outstanding female actress in a comedy series for her role in Apple TV+'s "The Studio." Her "Schitt's Creek" co-creator Seth Rogen accepted the award on her behalf, delivering an emotional speech about her genius and kindness.
In March, Rachel McAdams honored O'Hara during the Oscars "In Memoriam" segment, and she was also included in the SAG Actor Awards "In Memoriam" tribute. Her "Home Alone" co-stars, including Culkin, and "Schitt's Creek" castmates shared touching tributes shortly after her death, with Culkin writing on Instagram that he "wanted more" time with his on-screen "Mama."
