Macaulay Culkin recently marked his 46th birthday with a celebratory trip to Mexico alongside his fiancée, Brenda Song. Song shared glimpses of their getaway to San José del Cabo on Instagram, describing it as a "little birthday getaway" for the actor, whose birthday was on August 26.
The couple documented their time at Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, which offered a secluded setting amidst the Baja desert. Photos captured them relaxing on the beach, enjoying a "magical beach dinner" under the stars, and celebrating with a lavish balloon display in their suite. They also engaged in activities like Yahtzee and spa treatments during their stay.
Song and Culkin are parents to two sons, Dakota, five, and Carson, three, and became engaged in 2022. This personal celebration follows recent speculation about Culkin's potential return to the franchise that made him famous.
Home Alone Reboot Discussions
Reports surfaced in early August that Culkin had met with Walt Disney Studios executives to discuss creative directions for reviving the Home Alone franchise. Journalist Matthew Belloni, on his podcast The Town, indicated that Culkin had visited the Disney lot and expressed interest in developing a new installment.
Belloni suggested that Disney is eager to have Culkin reprise his iconic role as Kevin McCallister. The studio is reportedly open to various possibilities, including offering him a passion project alongside a new Home Alone film. Culkin himself has previously expressed openness to revisiting the character, provided the project is the right fit. In a spoken word show last November, he outlined a potential storyline where he plays a father whose child locks him out of the house, leading to comedic traps.
Culkin starred in the original 1990 film and its 1992 sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. He did not participate in the four subsequent films released in the franchise. The original film, which premiered in November 1990, also featured Joe Pesci, Daniel Stern, John Heard, Catherine O'Hara, and John Candy.
