Lynette Hooker Case Remains Active Six Months Later, Investigators Reconstructing Scene
Former FBI agent discusses the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Lynette Hooker during a Bahamas sailing trip.
Six months after Lynette Hooker vanished during a sailing vacation in the Bahamas, the case remains far from resolved as federal investigators work to reconstruct the events. Nicole Parker, a former FBI special agent and Fox News contributor, stated that the investigation is actively ongoing, focusing on piecing together what may have occurred on the water.
Lynette Hooker, 55, was last seen on April 4, after reportedly going overboard from a dinghy while with her husband, Brian Hooker. According to her husband's account to investigators, they were returning to their sailboat, the "Soulmate," after having drinks in Hope Town. Brian Hooker was initially detained and questioned by Bahamian authorities but was later released without being charged or accused of wrongdoing.
The U.S. Coast Guard Investigative Service has taken a lead role in the investigation. In May, the agency seized the Hookers' sailboat, "Soulmate," and in early June, deployed divers to search for any evidence. The dinghy used that night was also recovered and sent to a forensics lab for analysis. Parker noted that evidence sent to the FBI lab in Quantico takes time to process, explaining the deliberate pace of the investigation.
"They're trying to reconstruct a potential crime scene that occurred in the waters," Parker said, emphasizing that the lack of public visibility does not mean the investigation has stalled. She added that these types of complex cases require thoroughness and can be frustratingly slow-moving.
Lynette Hooker's mother, Darlene Hamlett, has publicly stated her belief that her daughter returned to the sailboat before disappearing and alleges foul play. She has indicated that her public statements are limited by what she can discuss regarding the ongoing investigation.
"Remember, there was no one else on the water with them," Parker commented on the circumstances.
Brian Hooker has since returned to the United States and was observed living a quiet life at his mother's home in Citrus Heights, California. Fox News Digital has reported sightings of him engaged in daily activities, such as walking dogs and interacting with neighbors. He has not made recent public statements regarding his wife's disappearance. His attorney did not immediately respond to requests for comment, and the FBI and Coast Guard declined to comment on the active investigation.
