Lynda Carter Honored at Angel Ball

Lynda Carter, the iconic actress known for her role as Wonder Woman, was honored at the 28th annual Angel Ball held at Cipriani Wall Street in New York on Monday night. The 75-year-old star graced the event's purple carpet, exuding glamour in a shimmering black gown paired with a dramatic velvet ruffled coat.

The Angel Ball is an annual fundraiser supporting blood cancer and leukemia research for Gabrielle's Angel Foundation for Cancer Research.

Carter, who was previously crowned Miss World USA in 1972, gained widespread recognition for her starring role as Diana Prince in the television series "Wonder Woman," which aired from 1975 to 1979. She has also appeared in other projects, including the series "Supergirl" and the 2005 film "Sky High," and made a cameo in the 2020 film "Wonder Woman 1984."

Reflecting on her portrayal of Wonder Woman in an interview with Harper's Bazaar Vietnam, Carter emphasized the character's inherent goodness, kindness, humanity, and strength. "That she cannot be victimised is one of the greatest strengths. She does not victimise others; she protects. Her superpowers are those that are not on the aggressive side - she is the protector," Carter said. She also drew parallels to the strength of women in their everyday lives, noting their ability to juggle multiple responsibilities while embodying a "mama bear" instinct.

In a 2024 interview with People, Carter discussed her approach to aging, stating she has not undergone facial surgery, citing fear as the reason. "I don't cut my face, so I probably look just myself, but older," she remarked. "And the reason I've never had any facial surgery is just because I'm afraid. It's scary, because we've all seen some bad ones."

Carter also shared that when she secured the role of Wonder Woman, she had very little money. "Well, when I got the role of Wonder Woman, I had literally $25 in my checking account," she told People. "I had been on the road as a singer ever since high school, and I'd saved up money and I had run out of money."

Other notable attendees at the event included Hilaria and Alec Baldwin, Kathy Hilton, and Sandra Lee.
