The baby care brand Millie Moon is defending the quality of its diapers and training pants after receiving more than 600 complaints alleging severe redness, peeling skin, and burn-like injuries among infants.
Millie Moon, whose products are sold at retailers including Target, Whole Foods, and Dollar General, stated that independent investigations found no harmful bacteria and that the products met the requirements of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA). "Our diapers and training pants passed every test conducted as part of our independent investigation," the company announced on Instagram. The brand is manufactured by Zuru LLC and marketed as being made from "high-quality materials" without lotions, latex, or fragrances.
However, parents have reported adverse reactions, leading Consumer Reports to call for a recall. A class action lawsuit filed this month alleges that the diapers are defective, prone to leakage, and cause severe skin reactions. One parent recounted their 2-year-old son requiring hospitalization in a burn unit due to injuries to his buttocks and genital area after using a Millie Moon potty training diaper.
According to Consumer Reports, over 600 incidents involving Millie Moon diapers have been reported to the Consumer Product Safety Commission this year, a number significantly higher than other diaper brands during the same period. The reported symptoms often include painful, severe red rashes with blisters, with several instances necessitating emergency medical attention. One parent reported to the commission, "The physician determined the diaper caused a chemical burn-type irritation across the entire area it contacted."
Some reports indicate that problems arose only recently, even with long-term users. One parent described a new box of overnight diapers causing immediate pain and screaming in their baby within twenty minutes of use. Another customer who had previously used Millie Moon diapers without issue for months reported blisters appearing on their son's bottom shortly after returning to the brand. Millie Moon asserts that no significant changes have been made to their product materials, suppliers, or construction, with the only alteration in February 2026 involving the placement of a printed design on the outer layer.
Millie Moon has stated that its extensive testing has yielded no "product-related cause for the reported reactions." The company encourages customers to contact them via a form on their website and has committed to investigating each concern. If a product-related cause is identified, the company stated it would "act appropriately and share what we find."
Experts advise parents to monitor their children for any signs of irritation, redness, peeling, or burns. If a reaction occurs, they recommend discontinuing use of the diapers immediately and consulting a pediatrician. Documenting packaging details, batch dates, and any reactions, along with keeping medical records, is also advised. Consumers can file complaints with the Consumer Product Safety Commission if an issue is identified.
