Country music stars Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean visited the White House briefing room on Thursday, trading the concert stage for the press podium ahead of their performance in Washington, D.C.

The impromptu visit saw Bryan step up to the microphone, playfully assuming the role of White House press secretary while Aldean, his wife Brittany, and others watched. A video shared by the Trump team on Instagram humorously captioned Bryan's turn, suggesting an opening for the press secretary position as current secretary Karoline Leavitt prepares to depart.

During his mock briefing, Bryan fielded a question about a Texas agricultural issue, referencing screwworms and sterile fly methods used by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Reports indicate Bryan met with Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins during his D.C. visit. Bryan also reportedly met with Vice President JD Vance prior to stopping by the briefing room.

Leavitt is scheduled to leave her role at the end of August to focus on her family. President Donald Trump announced her departure on Truth Social, stating Leavitt, who recently returned after the birth of her second child, will remain a trusted outside advisor. She became the youngest White House press secretary at age 27.

While Aldean has been publicly supportive of Trump, Bryan has largely kept his political views private. In 2022, Bryan faced criticism for bringing then-Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis onstage during a concert in Jacksonville after Hurricane Ian. Bryan clarified at the time that the appearance was intended to support hurricane victims rather than engage in politics. He has also expressed wariness about his comments being taken out of context in the current media landscape.

Aldean, conversely, has openly acknowledged Trump as a friend. Following an assassination attempt on Trump in July 2024, Aldean dedicated his song "Try That In A Small Town" to him during a concert. Both Aldean and Brittany attended the 2024 Republican National Convention, where they were seated near Trump.

The visit to the White House briefing room appeared to be a lighthearted moment for the longtime friends before their scheduled "Double Down Tour" performance at Nationals Park.
