Country music stars Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean briefly stepped into the White House briefing room on Thursday, participating in a mock press conference ahead of their Washington, D.C., tour stop.
The visit, captured in a video shared by the Trump team on Instagram, featured Bryan taking the podium to field questions. The post's caption humorously suggested Bryan could fill the role of White House press secretary following Karoline Leavitt's upcoming departure. "@lukebryan heard that there is an opening for Press Secretary 🤣 @karolineleavitt," the account captioned the video.
In the clip, Aldean stepped away from the microphone, allowing Bryan to take his place. Smiling attendees, including Aldean's wife Brittany, looked on as Bryan appeared to embrace the role. He humorously responded to a question about a Texas agricultural issue, stating, "I think the screwworms are screwed." He then elaborated on efforts to combat New World screwworms, a parasitic livestock threat, mentioning the use of sterile flies by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Bryan reportedly met with Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins during his Washington visit.
Bryan and Aldean were in the nation's capital for their co-headlining "Double Down Tour" show at Nationals Park. Bryan also reportedly spent time with Vice President JD Vance before their stop at the briefing room.
Leavitt is scheduled to leave her White House role at the end of August to focus on her family. President Trump announced her departure earlier this month on Truth Social, stating, "Our wonderful White House Press Secretary, and one of my most trusted aides, Karoline Leavitt, will be departing her role at the end of the month so she can spend more time with her beautiful young children and family, a decision I totally understand and respect!" Trump added that Leavitt, who recently returned after giving birth to her second child, will remain a top outside adviser. She became the youngest White House press secretary at 27.
While Aldean has been an open supporter of Trump, Bryan has largely maintained a more private stance on political matters. In 2022, Bryan faced some backlash for bringing then-Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis onstage during a concert after Hurricane Ian, which he explained was aimed at raising awareness for hurricane victims rather than making a political statement. He has also expressed a general reluctance to engage in political discussions due to concerns about comments being taken out of context by modern media.
Aldean, conversely, has publicly acknowledged his friendship with Trump and has dedicated songs to him. He and Brittany Aldean also attended the 2024 Republican National Convention, where they were seated near Trump.
The brief appearance in the White House briefing room offered a lighthearted moment for the country music stars before their scheduled performance.
